ENVIRONMENT

Our dogs and puppies here at Cedar Ridge have a good life.  We make available both indoor and outdoor spaces both fun and sensory filled.

Our dogs are always allowed in our front entrance, large dining and kitchen area inside our home.  We use gates to keep our livingroom dog free, however we let them in 2 at a time.  If we let everyone in we wouldn't have a place to sit!

The front entrance to our home has a dog door that enters out into a large dog yard, fenced in with both wooden fence and kennel panels.  There are grassy, gravel, concrete patio, sand box (12x12) and dirt areas for them to play.  We have little tykes play equipment and dog houses for them to hide in and play around.  Also a tetherball pole, dog pool, and plenty of toys and balls to play with.

Across from the front entrance room is an unattached garage, in the front there was once a summer kitchen and now 2 dog rooms set up like a kitchen and office open room area.  These rooms have a dog door opening out to another dog yard in which there is a large area of grass and a concrete area running the length of the garage.  There is shade and dog houses in this area.  I normally use this area for breeding dogs (they need their privacy too!)  Or a litter of pups to be secluded from the older dogs.  This gives them time to just play with their siblings outside, but also the choice to be inside if they'd like.

Our Border collies are not let outside any fences unless there is someone out to watch them, with exception of Dakota and Angel.  Those two were raised up on the farm with vehicles  and farm equipment driving through the yard.  So you could say they are vehicle savy which keeps them from getting ran over when no one is around! We have horses, ducks, chickens and cats for them to check out when running around outside.  We take them for walks back to our pond which is out behind the "Cedar Ridge" on our land.  They really enjoy the run and have fun swimming in the pond.  It is about a half mile total there and back.  But the routes they take I think the dogs end up running a mile!  They are exhausted after the run and glad to be back and relax afterwards.

I have a grooming room off of the barn.  With a "Booster Bath", grooming table and dog blower.  They are given baths when they are dirty or leaving for a dog show.  I blow their coats out with a K9 II blower twice a year when they are shedding their undercoat.  I normally do not bathe the pups, unless they've gotten into the dirt prior to leaving my home.  However, I do make sure their nails are cut and ears are cleaned.  It is important not to strip all the natural oils from their skin as a puppy.  Do not bathe your puppy too often.

If you or your family would like to meet our dogs, please give us a call.  Or you may set up a time and day by email if you wish.  I'm outside a lot during the summer months and don't always get to the phone.

Thanks for taking the time to read through this website.  It answers a lot of questions families have had over the years:)  I do enjoy what I do and want to let everyone know about the time I invest in my dogs and pups.  I want them to transition into their forever homes smoothly!  As I would want for myself....
